Mike Doran’s assessment of why Israel attacked the Houthis (July 21, 2024 on X)
====================
The Biden Doctrine shaped today’s strike by Israel on the Houthis. What is the Biden Doctrine? The principle that Iran is free, either directly or indirectly through its proxies, to attack Israel, but Israel must not attack Iran. “Take the win,” Biden told Netanyahu after Iran, on April 12-13, attacked Israel with the largest ballistic missile barrage in history.
In deference to Biden and his team of Obama staffers, the Israelis restrained themselves in response to Iran. The IDF made due with a demonstration of capabilities rather than launching a counterattack that would have taken from the Iranians something they hold dear.
Supreme Leader Khamenei thanked Team Obama-Biden in its characteristic fashion, namely, by green lighting escalations against Israel by Hezbollah and the Houthis.
The last two weeks on Israel’s northern border have been tough ones for Israel, and then came the Houthi drone attack on Tel Aviv yesterday. The attack killed only one man, but it had a massive psychological impact. It showed the world that Tel Aviv was in range, and that the drones that Iran supplies to the Houthis and Hezbollah can pass through Israeli defenses undetected.
Judging by the size of the massive crowd in Sana’a yesterday, braying for Jewish and American blood, the psychological impact was as big there as it was in Jerusalem. Prime Minister Netanyahu and his military advisors therefore decided today to launch a significant counterattack.
They chose their target not just to deter the Houthis but also to send messages to Nasrallah, Khamenei, and Obama — pardon me, Biden. The Israeli targeteers selected the Houthis' oil facilities. Why?
First, psychology. The flames are huge. Everyone in the world will see that the Israelis mean business. This isn’t a quiet signal to decision makers: it’s a message to the world.
Second, it causes the Houthis real pain. They are poor. They have few exports besides terrorism and a relatively limited oil production. The Americans and British, until now, have limited their counterattacks to pinprick strikes against missile launchers, etc. That is to say that the American-British counterattacks have been just big enough to allow officials in Washjngton and London to answer critics by saying that they aren’t taking the Houthi attacks on shipping sitting down, but not actually big enough to deter the Houthis, let alone Iran.
Third, this attack tells Nasrallah and all his Lebanese enablers: “Those Iranian missile Hezbollah stores next to the duty free cognac at the Beirut airport, the Lebanon’s electric grid, its oil storage depots — they and all other elements of critical national infrastructure are all fair game.
Fourth, the operation tells the Iranians not to get too comfortable under the shelter of the Biden Doctrine. “Yes, Mr. Khamanei, Biden did restrain us in April, but we do not intend to let the Americans turn us into your punching bag. Today the Houthis’ oil; tomorrow, yours.” The distance the planes flew between Israel and Yemen is similar to the distance to Iran.
Fifth, the attack tells Team Obama-Biden this is not, at root, an Israeli-Palestinian war. Properly understood it is an asymmetric war against the U.S. launched by Iran. This message sets the stage nicely for Netanyahu’s speech before both houses of Congress on Wednesday.

So the use is allowed to impose sanctions on Iraq for 12 years killing a million civilians, half of which children under 5 and are not called terrorists. But as soon as the Houthis block ships only from Israel they are the worst terrorist group.

🇾🇪⚔️🇺🇸 🚨 YEMEN RESPONDS TO AGGRESSION BY THE UNITED STATES AND UNITED KINGDOM
📹 A video by the Armed Forces of Yemen spokesperson, Brigadier General Yahya Sarea released early Friday in response to coalition drone and missile strikes launched overnight against several targets in Yemen.
The United States claims these strikes are in response to repeated Yemeni strikes targeting commercial vessels, however, as Sarea points out in several previous videos, the Yemeni Armed Forces have only been targeting Israeli vessels and commercial vessels heading to or from occupied Palestine.
In his response, Sarea begins by condemning the United States and Great Britain for launching "brutal aggression" against the Republic of Yemen in a total of "seventy-three" air raids, with the Yemeni Capital Sana'a among those cities targeted.
Sarea said the U.S. and Britain also targeted the Hodeidah, Taiz, Hajj, and Sada'a Governates with drone and missile strikes as well.
Sarea also condemned the United States for killing five personnel and wounding six other members of Yemen's armed forces.
"The American and British enemy bears full responsibility for his truly criminal aggression," Sarea said in his statement.
Sarea said that aggression would not go unpunished, adding "we will not hesitate to target the source of a threat from all hostile targets on land or sea in defense of Yemen."
Sarea also condemned the attacks as a "brutal aggression" against Yemen's sovereignty, and swore defiantly that "Yemen will not be dissuaded from its position of support and assistance to the oppressed people of Palestine."
Sarea finishes by stating that the Yemeni Armed Forces "confirms that it continues to prevent Israeli ships or [ships] heading to the ports of occupied Palestine" from navigation in the Red Sea.

This is not the abstract Yemen who is participating in terrorism, this is the whole organisation that controls Yemen the same way Hamas controls Palestine. It is called the Houthis, and their rhetoric is very close to the nazi. There's a reason why UN banned them, but no one seems to be interested in the actual problem.
Not even mentioning that "puppets in the UN" is the narrative that is actively spread by russia - the state which finances... 🥁🥁🥁 Hamas as well!
I kindly ask my mutuals not to support this and not to participate in spreading this shit.
P.S. Israel exports a lot of pharmaceuticals, machinery and equipment, medical instruments, computer hardware and software, agricultural products, chemicals, textiles, etc. So there is nothing to be happy about, especially for medics.

Houthis attack two tankers in Red Sea, shell US military base
Military tensions are rising in the Middle East as the Houthis again attacked tankers in the Red Sea and fired shells at US military bases in Syria.
The attacks in the Red Sea
Two crude oil tankers were attacked in the Red Sea off the coast of Yemen on Tuesday, but neither was injured, maritime security agencies said.
The attempted attacks on the vessels, identified as the Liberian-flagged Delta Atlantica and the Panama-flagged On Phoenix, have the hallmarks of attacks by Iran-linked Houthi militants on international cargo traffic in solidarity with Palestinians in the war between Israel and Hamas.
The Houthis have not claimed responsibility. The ships and crews in both cases were unharmed and continued on to their next ports of call.
Since November, the Houthi military campaign has sunk two ships and killed at least three sailors. It continues despite US and UK strikes on equipment and launch pads in Yemen.
The threat of Houthi attacks has forced many ships travelling through the Suez Canal between Asia and Europe to reroute around Africa. This raises shipping costs, delays cargo and increases pollution.
Shelling of a US base
Shells fired towards a US airbase at a gas field in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor province did not hit the facility, two US officials said on Tuesday.
Earlier, a security source told Reuters that an Iranian-backed group fired six shells at the base, all of which landed in close proximity to the US base, adding that the US-led coalition responded to the attack with artillery.
A US official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the shells did not hit the base and no one was hurt. He referred to early reports that could change.
Lebanese pro-Iranian TV channel Al Mayadeen reported that US warplanes were flying intensively in the skies over Deir ez-Zor after the attack. ConocoPhillips said it was aware of reports of damage to a US and coalition base in eastern Syria bearing the Conoco name, but its assets in Syria were withdrawn in the early 2000s.
The Pentagon said on Tuesday that eight US troops were injured in a drone attack on a base in Syria last week.

During searches by emergency services, the body of a lifeless man was found in an apartment near the location of the explosion.
Israeli media reported a loud explosion on Ben Yehuda Street on the corner of Shalom Aleichem near the US Consulate in Tel Aviv early Friday morning.
During searches by emergency services, the body of a lifeless man in his 50s with shrapnel marks on his body was found in an apartment near the location of the explosion. Ten people were taken to hospital with minor wounds, according to Israeli media.
Police, fire, and rescue services were deployed to the area and told Israeli media that there was no fire. The source of the explosion is not yet known.
An IDF spokesperson announced that a preliminary investigation shows that the explosion in Tel Aviv "was caused by the fall of an aerial target, which did not trigger a warning."
According to the Saudi owned Al-Arabiya/al-Hadath channel, the United States intercepted a ballistic missile and three drones launched by the Houthis at Israel during on Friday night, but the fourth managed to hit Tel Aviv.

The IDF is continuing to investigate the explosion.
Residents who live near the place of the explosion say that objects were shattered in their houses as a result of the blast.
Soon after the attack, a leader of Yemen's Houthis, Hezam al-Asad tweeted "Tel Aviv" with a burning emoji. No official statement has been made by Israel regarding this connection.
The spokesman of Yemen's Houthis, Yahya Sarie, said on X, that the group will reveal details about a military operation that targeted Tel Aviv.
Magen David Adom reported that a 37-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman were slightly injured, and they are fully conscious and were taken to the Ichilov Hospital with shrapnel injuries to their limbs and shoulder. In addition, four were being treated for shock at the scene.
MDA Spokesperson, Zaki Heller, later said "following a search of the area, an unconscious male was found in one of the nearby buildings with penetrating injuries. EMTs and Paramedics treated 8 casualties, including 4 with shrapnel and blast injuries, and 4 with anxiety symptoms."
The Home Front Command stated: "No aerial intrusion into the country's central area was detected, and therefore no alarm was triggered - the incident is under investigation."
The police said: "A short time ago, a report was received at the police headquarters about hearing an explosion in a building in Tel Aviv. Large forces of the Tel Aviv District Police and police engineers arrived at the scene."
The Mayor of Tel AVviv, Ron Huldai, posted on X: "The Municipality of Tel Aviv-Yafo is on heightened alert in light of the severe UAV incident tonight, in which one person was killed and others were injured. The war is still here, and it is hard and painful. The municipal forces arrived at the spot quickly and dealt with the incident, and we are prepared for developments, if any. I call on the public to obey gov't instructions."
Israel police
Israel police stated that they rushed to the area after receiving hundreds of reports at around 03:00 am.
They reported that the commander of the Tel Aviv District, Superintendent Peretz Omar Kaim, together with the commander of the Yarkon Region, Yehiel Bohdana, assessed the situation in the field with all the emergency and rescue forces.
They called on the residents to obey the directives of the Home Front Command, and to not touch the remnants of rockets that may contain explosives and to report this without delay to Moked 100.
This is a developing story.

Uhh, the "imperialist powers" are not "punishing yemenis by cutting them off from the world food program." The food distribution has been halted due to limited funding and disagreement with the local authorities. You should blame the Houthi for that.
Tumblr media
Yemen, a country that had to endure a genocide at the hands of Saudi Arabia and America for over a decade, and one of the poorest countries in the WORLD- has singlehandedly applied more pressure on israel than any other exisiting force. In just 2 weeks they have cost israel 2 BILLION in lost revenue by forcing their ships to go around africa instead of passing through the red sea.
Already, the imperialist powers are punishing yemenis by cutting them of from the world food program. More than 17 million Yemenis – over half the population – don't know if or when they'll eat another meal. With multiple threats closing in from all sides, untold numbers of innocent people could starve.
If you can, please donate so yemeni families can have something to eat:
